Snow was still on the ground at Crystal Hermitage. There were tulips that weathered the weather! One was flat on the ground, but still blooming. Plus we had an evening rainbow during a short pounding rain. The pink cherry trees are swelling, the white cherry tree is beginning to bloom.

Trekking through the snow for a photography session with the tulips.

There are dozens of budding tulips in the garden and a few flowers in bloom scattered throughout the gardens.  The cold will most likely delay flowers from blooming.

March 14, 2020

It is cold wet and raining in the gardens (37 Fahrenheit) and the tulips love it. They thrive in this type of weather. We are seeing budding tulips pop with color scattered throughout the garden. The white blossom Mt. Fuji next to the pink Kwanzan cherry trees is starting to flower. We will share pictures on Monday after the rains.

Overall the garden is slowly turning green with about a 50 blooming tulips and two hundred buds.

75 degrees in the garden. Not a lot of change so far. A few tulips are blooming in the sunny beds down by the house. Others are budding throughout the gardens in the upper gardens by the colonnade. So far no leaves on the trees.

Here is the first tulip watch video of the season! It took a bit to get up and going on editting videos. As predicted there are tulips budding in the garden and may bloom anyday! This warm weather may give us tulips by the last week of March.

Flavia Polo & Greg Traymar will be joining the video team to give timely live facebook videos from the gardens. Sorry there’s still so much to do to get the gardens ready for your visit. We can’t wait to see you, though!

Many of you have been asking about flowers blooming in the garden. Here are pictures from yesterday (Feb 29, 2020). No tulips yet. Athough, very small batch in a sunny spot is already budding watch the tulip watch video tomorrow for the details.
We have not received rain for a month so last night’s rain is going to help the 5,000 bedding flowers (pansies & forget me nots). There is a cold front coming next week. The tulips are going to love it.
