Lahiri Mahasaya was born September 30th, 1828 and left his body in 1895. He was a householder, father of two children and an accountant. His example of a balanced life, being in the world but not of it, helps seeking souls understand the importance of inner rather than outer expressions of renunciation. It was through Lahiri that the practice of Kriya Yoga, a scientific technique of meditation, was made available to sincere truthseekers.
